Black Hawks Card of the Day

Chicago Black Hawks
Hawks are in 37th year as NHL entry, and it's doubtful they ever fielded a stronger, bigger team than current one. Credit for this must go to Jim Norris, owner, recently named to Hall of Fame; to Tommy Ivan, general manager, and to Coach Rudy Pilous, story-teller supreme.

Name that player!

Pierre has developed progressively in NHL to stardom, winner of Norris Mememorial Trophy last two years as leading all-around defenseman. Key to Hawks' power play, "Pete" led all defensemen in scoring last season. He's smallish but maneuverable and strong.

The 97 points Mikita piled up in 1966-67 (35 goals, 62 assists) equaled teammate Bobby Hull's NHL single season record set the previous year. He retired with the third-highest career points total (1,467) in league history, behind only Gordie Howe and Phil Esposito.

With regular work he didn't get as Canadien, Ab blossomed into a 20-goal scorer with the Hawks. One of tallest left wingers in NHL at 6-2, he is sound checker and owner of good, hard shot. Scored six goals in last playoffs.
