Seahawks Card of the Day

Leonard Williams
Going into his first full Seattle season, Williams is excited to embrace the changes being adopted by new coach Mike Macdonald. "We're not chasing to be like any other team that's been here before, we want to create our own identity," said the well-respected DE, who had 58 tackles between the Giants and Seahawks in 2023.

Name that player!

Warner loved playing for coach Chuck Knox. "Chuck's offense gave me freedom," he told the Spokesman-Review. "There's textbook plays and then there's football plays... never exact. Sometimes my best runs were for 2-3 yards, sometimes you make a couple guys miss in the backfield just to get back to the line."

Before they had played their first game as a franchise, the Seahawks made arguably their greatest trade when they acquired Largent, a rookie wideout from the Oilers, in the 1976 preseason for an eighth-round pick the next year. He stuck with the team for 14 seasons and retired as the game's all-time leader in receiving yards.

Russell impressed the nation with his play in 2012, but he enthralled his Seattle teammates even earlier. "He came in with the right attitude, the right mind-set, veteran receiver Sidney Rice says, "and that was to get things done, Wilson got a lot done as a rookie, posting the fourth-highest passer rating in the league, leading his team to an 11-5 record and winning his first postseason start.

Russell Wilson
Quarterbacks coach Carl Smith used to fret when his QB left the pocket - until he started coaching Russell. "When that happens, I start getting happy," Smith says. "Something good's about to happen." In 2013, Wilson game-managed, scrambled and passed the Seahawks to the ultimate title. Russell, who logged a 123.1 passer rating in the Super Bowl, has won 28 games (including playoffs) in two seasons.
