Warner loved playing for coach Chuck Knox. "Chuck's offense gave me freedom," he told the Spokesman-Review. "There's textbook plays and then there's football plays... never exact. Sometimes my best runs were for 2-3 yards, sometimes you make a couple guys miss in the backfield just to get back to the line."
Before they had played their first game as a franchise, the Seahawks made arguably their greatest trade when they acquired Largent, a rookie wideout from the Oilers, in the 1976 preseason for an eighth-round pick the next year. He stuck with the team for 14 seasons and retired as the game's all-time leader in receiving yards.
Russell impressed the nation with his play in 2012, but he enthralled his Seattle teammates even earlier. "He came in with the right attitude, the right mind-set, veteran receiver Sidney Rice says, "and that was to get things done, Wilson got a lot done as a rookie, posting the fourth-highest passer rating in the league, leading his team to an 11-5 record and winning his first postseason start.
