Steelers Card of the Day

Pat Freiermuth
Freiermuth corralled 60 passes as a 2021 rookie and hauled in 63 more throws in his second pro season. That made him the second tight end in NFL history, alongside Philadelphia's Keith Jackson (1988, 1989), with at least 60 receptions in each of his first two seasons. He's been quite the catch for the Steelers.

Name that player!

Talented athlete had frustrating 1992 season, appearing in only seven games...Led Steelers in touchdown catches each of first two seasons, setting club record for tight ends in 1990.

Bobby Layne passed himself into Football immortality last season as he gained his 23,877th yard passing. This mark surpassed Sammy Baugh's previous high of 22,085 yards gained. A thirteen year veteran, Bobby gained stardom in the National Football League with the Detroit Lions. Three years ago, he joined the Steelers and helped make the Pittsburgh team one of the powerhouses of passing. Bobby broke into the pro ranks after a great college career at Texas. Not only was he a sensational football player but was just as good on the baseball diamond. He started with the Bears in '48, moved to the old N. Y. Bulldogs, and stayed at Detroit for 8 years.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin had a pretty straightforward assessment of Harris after the Steelers drafted him in 2021 "He's a complete back. He was spot-on. Harris did it all as a rookie, running for 1,200 yards, making 74 receptions and leading all NFL first-year players with 1,667 yards from scrimmage.
