Lions Card of the Day

Ernie Caddel
Ernie Caddel, Jr., former Stanford University halfback now with the Detroit Lions, was known as the "blond Antelope," because of his speed and peculiar loping gait. In 1931 he came East with Stanford to play against Dartmouth in the Harvard stadium, and on second play of the game, swung wide around right end for an 80 yard touchdown, in which no Dartmouth man laid a hand on him. He scored three touchdowns, all on long runs, that day and Eastern college coaches, who were in attendance, voted his the best individual performance of the year.

In Week 9 of 2012 against Jacksonville, Stafford had the Lions offense running on all cylinders as he racked up 285 passing yards in a 31-14 win. In the process, Stafford became the second fastest to 10,000 career passing yards, finishing just one game behind Kurt Warner, who did it in 36 contests.

Montgomery didn't have far to go to join the Lions in 2023-just a little more than 300 miles, and he didn't have to leave the NFC North. He knew them well. "The energy these guys bring, I'm excited about it," he said. They're building something special here. I'm able to be part of it, so I'm ready to roll."
