Name that player!

This All-Pro linebacker is regarded as the tops at his trade in the National Football League. A knifing tackler, and a keen spotter of plays, Joe is generally in the right place at the right time. More than just a good football player, he is also the defensive leader and is the sparkplug of the Lions. Joe knows how to keep his teammates alert to the game situations at all times.

The number 2 all-time scorer for the Detroit Lions! Strong and speedy, Wayne's biggest thrills in football is his first 2 TDs as a rookie in '58.

Reggie had one of the best workouts of any player at the Scouting Combine as he ran the 40 in 4.47, displayed a 33-inch vertical leap and a 10-foot broad jump. With those stats, he will fit in perfect ly as a speed pass rusher and cover man for the Lions' aggressive defense. Extremely active, Reggie also excels against the run.

Back to the Front! Lions card back du jour...

Ernie Caddel
Ernie Caddel, Jr., former Stanford University halfback now with the Detroit Lions, was known as the "blond Antelope," because of his speed and peculiar loping gait. In 1931 he came East with Stanford to play against Dartmouth in the Harvard stadium, and on second play of the game, swung wide around right end for an 80 yard touchdown, in which no Dartmouth man laid a hand on him. He scored three touchdowns, all on long runs, that day and Eastern college coaches, who were in attendance, voted his the best individual performance of the year.
