Voted to a forward spot on ABA 2nd team All-Stars in 1971-72, Willie was ABA's 12th leading scorer and 11th leading rebounder in 1971-72. In addition he ranked 10th in loop with .507 2-point field goal pct; and had 286 assists for the Stars.

When the Stars found themselves in an early season slump in 1972-73 they inserted Gerald into a starting forward position. In 20 Games after that move he doubled his Point Total, raised his Shooting Percentage to the best of his ABA career and he averaged 12.8 Rebounds Per Game.

Cincy Powell
Cincy was acquired by the Stars from the Colonels for the 1972-73 season after making life miserable for Utah the previous campaign. It seemed as though whenever the two teams faced one another Cincy was hitting a great shot or pulling down a crucial rebound vs. Stars.
