Timberwolves Card of the Day

Christian Laettner
Christian Laettner has done a lot of smiling in his young basketball career. After being a part of two NCAA Championships with Duke and winning a gold medal in Spain, he moved on to become one of the NBA's top rookies in 1992-93. Ranked among the top five rookies in both scoring (17.8 per game) and rebounding (8.2 per outing) at mid-season, Laettner has a future that looks just as bright as his past.

Name that player!

The giant out of Wisconsin led his Badger team in scoring, field goal percentage and blocks last season. For his efforts, he was tabbed on honorable mention All-Big 10 last season. He runs well for a big man and should fit an up-tempo Timberwolves' style well.

Over the past 25 seasons, there have been three players who have started their careers by averaging at least 10 rebounds in each of their first six seasons. Pulling down 10.6 missed shots per game for the Wolves in 2020-21, Towns put his name on that short list, which also features Tim Duncan and Dwight Howard.

Averaged 1.4 bpg for the season... Had a season-high 11 rebounds 12/6/91... Selected to the All-WAC First Team and All-WAC Defensive Team the last two seasons at New Mexico... Played for the Australian National Team at the 1988 and 1992 Summer Olympic Games... First Australian to play in the NBA.
