Braves Card of the Day

Fred Hilton
Fred's coach at Grambling, Fred Hobdy, has also produced top flight pros Willis Reed and Jimmy Jones, yet Coach Hobdy feels that Fred is the best defensive player he has coached. Fred was prep All-American at McKinley High in Baton Rouge where he teamed with Celtics' Don Chaney.

Name that player!

A member of the NBA's All-Rookie Team for the 1976-77 campaign, Adrian was the unanimous selection as the league's Rookie of the Year last season. He took over the Braves' small forward position and his ability to outrebound much bigger players gave the team added strength on the boards over the course of the entire campaign.

The unanimous choice as NBA Rookie of the Year last season, "Ernie D" led the league in assists average with 8.2 per game and in free throw percentage with .902. He provided the catalyst which brought the Braves to a playoff berth with his ability to direct a fastbreak and his uncanny knack of handling the ball. Ernie gained fame in college with his ball handling and passing wizardry.

Called by some the fastest player in the league, Randy became the first Brave in history to play in all 82 regular season games when he turned the trick in 1972-73. His 422 Assists topped by 16 Mahdi Abdul-Rahman's club record for a sea. son. Randy's Average Per Game was 5.1 but he was averaging 6 per game the last two thirds of the campaign.

Dick Garrett
The Lakers' second round draft choice in 1969, Dick enjoyed a brilliant rookie season in the NBA. He was named to the All-Rookie team and started in the Los Angeles backcourt with Jerry West. A college teammate of the Knicks' Walt Frazier, he played with the 1967 Southern Illinois team that won the NIT championship. He's a great offensive threat whether shooting or setting up a teammate.
