Suns Card of the Day

Phoenix Suns, Dan Majerle
Despite a predictably bad 16-66 first season, the Suns have built a winning tradition since joining the NBA in 1968. In their 24-year history, the Suns have made 14 postseason appearances and have recorded eight seasons with 50 or more victories. In 1976, Phoenix made its only NBA Finals appearance, against the Celtics. DID YOU KNOW? The Suns are the only team ever to have four players (Don Buse, Alvan Adams, Walter Davis and Paul Westphal) hand out 300 or more assists - and the Suns have done it twice (1978-79 and 1979-80). Phoenix broke the club record with 14 consecutive wins in December 1992, the third-best month in NBA history. SCORECARD. The Suns scored an NBA-record 107 points in the first half of a November 10, 1990, game with the Nuggets, who had set the previous high (90) just three days earlier.

Name that player!

Was voted All-American at Indiana. Made NBA All-Rookie Team for 1965-66.

Acquired by the Suns from New Orleans during the 1978-79 season, Leonard saw action in 26 games at Phoenix and was credited with 225 Rebounds, 17 Steals and 12 Blocked Shots. At New Orleans in 1977-78 he played in all 82 games while leading the entire NBA with 3638 Minutes.

Though Kevin Johnson has been a regular starter for Phoenix only four seasons, his resume reads like that of a superstar veteran. Already he has: posted 11 of the 15 games of 18 or more assists in Suns history; finished in the top three of the NBA assist charts four straight seasons; and become the franchise's #2 all-time assist leader.

Devin Booker
Heating up faster than a summer day in the desert, Booker scored 24 points in the first quarter of a win vs. New Orleans on April 1, 2024. He became the second player (Stephen Curry) to net at least that many points in an opening frame four times in a career. He finished with 52, his league-high third 50-spot of the season.
