Cedric Ceballos and the Los Angeles Lakers had their fans honking car horns out on Manchester Avenue by the Great Western Forum once again. In 1994-95, the team experienced a resurgence that is sure to keep them contending for an NBA Championship for the next several years. The acquisition of Ceballos proved to be one of the biggest reasons for the team's 15-game turnaround from 1993-94. Named as a reserve to the Western Conference squad for the 1995 NBA All-Star Game, Ceballos became only the seventh player in Lakers history to score 50 points in a single game (50, vs. Minn. on Dec. 20, 1994).
In his first NBA season since turning the age of 21. Kobe's game matured in proportion. An NBA All-Star Game starter and an All-NBA Second Team choice, he was the league's 12th-leading scorer. But it was on defense (once considered the softest part of his skills set) where Bryant grew up the most - a function of his devotion to improvement. "His total thing is basketball," says Orlando Magic coach Doc Rivers. "He has no other life, almost to a scary proportion."
A strong all-around player, Pat has been a sparkplug ever since joining the Lakers for the 1970-71 campaign. He matches defensively with the small forwards and big guards in the league and he's a tough, hard-nosed competitor. Pat is at his best against the toughest teams in the league.
