"Ole Satch" had the best season, in '52, of his long deferred and much interrupted Major League career. He was tied for 2nd in Games Appeared in, turning in an 8-8 record as a reliever and a 4-2 mark as a starter. In addition, he was in the finishing pitcher in 10 other Brownie wins. Satchell hurled a 12 inning, 1-0 shutout against the Tigers in '52. He's been in the AL since '48, hurling for the Indians in '48 and '49 and the Browns in '51.



At end of 1947 season Brownies bought Jerry from Senators for $25,000. In 151 games for Brownies he had a .296 batting average, including 40 doubles, nine triples and eight homers. Jerry came up through minors in Yankee chain, and joined New York for 1941 season. He was traded to the Senators for the 1943 season.



Vic hits a long ball, and is a good man in the outfield. He began the 1952 season with the Detroit Tigers and after appearing in 85 games for them was traded to St. Louis in a big deal. He's been in baseball since 1942. He began as an outfielder and has stayed one with the exception of 1943 with Buffalo when he appeared in 1 game, pitching 2 innings.

Ned Garver
Though Ned's win-lose record was 13-18 last year, he hung up the second lowest earned run average in the League (3.39). Tied for most complete games with 22. Ned is also a good hitter. In a few games in 1950 he was spotted in the 7th slot of the St. Louis batting order. Entered organized baseball with Newark, Ohio State League, in 1944. The Browns bought his contract in the fall of 1947.
