Mariners Card of the Day

Cal Raleigh
Raleigh was a polished catcher coming out of Florida State University who required only 203 Minor League contests before assuming Seattle's frontline duties in mid-2021. Fourteen of his 25 hits as a rookie went for extra bases.

Name that player!

An extremely handy player since his claim off waivers four years ago, Sam offers sweltering speed and rangy outfield defense, chiefly off the bench. On the other hand, the 2022 Mariners won 35 of the 49 games he started - the highest percentage (.714) on the Club. When, in 2023, he thieved the 25th base of his career, he'd still been thrown out just twice.

Julio graduated to superstar status in 2023, becoming just the fourth player age 22 or younger to deliver a 30/30 season. He put on a stupefying display as the AL Player of the Month for August. From the 16th to the 19th, he churned out 17 hits, breaking a 98-year-old record for any four-game period.

Ken's swing was equal parts artistry and savagery. He used it to put up seven 40-homer seasons, win three T-Mobile Home Run Derby titles and make the MLB All-Star Game 13 times. In 1997, Griffey took AL MVP accolades with a .304-56-147 ledger.

Julio Rodriguez
Julio rose to number two on the midseason prospect list released in 2021 by MLB Pipeline. After crushing Single-A Everett, Julio was promoted to Double-A. In his first 19 games at Arkansas, he slashed .319/.420/.536 with four roundtrippers. He also walked nearly as many times (10) as he struck out (16). He's a key building block for the Mariners.
