The strong righthander won six out of eight decisions for Macon early in '67 and was brought up to Columbus. Bob manhandled the batters in the International League too, as he triumphed four out of five times. The Pirates should get some additional power from this longball hitting infielder. Bob cracked 32 home runs for Gastonia in '65 and 32 again in '66 for Asheville. He has hit better than .300 twice in four years.
Paul was widely regarded as the best college pitching prospect since Stephen Strasburg. He more than lived up to the hype. A dominant Spring Training wasn't enough for him to make the Opening Day roster. So he proceeded to torment MiLB hitters until his promotion in May. In his first nine starts, he K'ed 70 batters and compiled a 2.06 ERA.
This promising Pirate hurler has an impressive minor-league record. He won 27 games in only his second year of organized ball, striking out a league high of 273 batters. He's been a ten-game winner on two other occasions.
