Name that player!

Connor was better than ever at the plate in 2024, setting career highs for hits, homers, walks and RBI while manning the most demanding position on the diamond. This came on the heels of a 2023 in which he ranked eighth in the AL in Defensive WAR. "He's hitting the ball hard," skipper Alex Cora observes. "There's more conviction behind the swing."

No. 1, The Double Play: Marty McManus says - the secret of the double play is quick, accurate throwing. Whether the shortstop or the second baseman starts the play, he must feed his throw to the "pivot man" shoulder high on his right side (see drawing), so that the latter can catch the ball and relay it to first almost in a single motion. Strong throwing arms are important to the players on either side of second base, because the completion of the double play depends largely on the speed of the relay-throw to first base.

At 39 Ted became the oldest player to ever win the Batting Title. He finished 23 points higher than Mantle and belted four more homers than the Yankee youngster. Father Time? Ted never heard of him!
