Name that player!

Josh used to joke with teachers that they should save his signature, because it would be worth something someday. "But I didn't really believe it," he said. "I was just messing around with them." With any luck, a few took his words seriously. Donaldson earned his first MLB All-Star Game nod in 2014, a year after finishing fourth in the AL MVP vote.

The left-handed hitting shortstop came a long way in 1968. Ted's batting average leaped almost 100 points over his '67 finish. His glove had already earned him quite a reputation!

George scored the winning run for A's in 5th game of 1972 AL Playoffs. In 4th inning he reached on an error, was sacrificed to 2nd & scored on single by Gene Tenace to gain 2-1 verdict over Tigers and give A's their first pennant since 1931. He also made final putout of game in centerfield.

Back to the Front! Athletics card back du jour...

Jim Gosger
In June, 1966, Jim came to the A's via a seven man deal with the Boston Red Sox. Back in 1962, the youngster set a record in the Carolina League when he drove in ten runs in one ballgame! Even more amazing, this was just the third game of Jim's professional career. He went on to lead the Eastern League with 13 triples in 1964. The 25 year old outfielder should have a big year in '68.
