Name that player!

"Zeke" began his professional baseball career with the New Orleans Club in 1929. He entered the majors in 1934 with the Chicago White Sox and is now with the Washington Senators.

Walt was sent to the Washington Senators shortly after the start of the 1952 season. With Washington he made 24 mound appearances, winning 9 and losing 8. Walt began in 1939 with Charlotte of the Piedmont League, and after appearing in 2 games for them, he went to Washington. He remained, except for three years in service, until traded to the Red Sox in June, 1949.

Johnny has had a long and effective career in baseball. The Senators are his fifth major league team. He first came to the big leagues in 1941, at the end of the year, with the Chicago Cubs, and he stayed with them until traded to the Dodgers in 1951. After that he was with the Cincinnati Redlegs and New York Yankees before coming to the Senators. In 1954 he was in 29 games, and he won 11 and lost 8. His earned run average of 2.92 ranked him seventh in the League.

Back to the Front! Senators card back du jour...

Goose Goslin
A .316 career hitter and winner of the 1928 batting crown (.379). Goslin couldn't wait for spring to roll around so he could swing the stick. "Oh, did I ever love to get up there and hit," he said. "And most of all I truly loved those fastballs. They were right down my alley. Zip they'd come in, and whack - right back out they'd go."
