Name that player!
Each 1916 Sporting News M101-4 card features a sepia image with the player’s name, team, position and the card number identified at the lower white border.
Though Walt only stands 5 feet 6 inches, he is a big man with a bat for the White Sox. In his past two minor league campaigns, Walt led The Texas League and The Pacific Coast League in base-hits. In '66, at Tulsa, he collected 54 doubles and compiled a .330 average to top the circuit. His performance during his freshman season earned him a spot on The 1967 Topps Rookie All-Star squad.
Breaking protocol from the early tobacco and candy cards, the 1916 Sporting News M101-4 set featured photographs of players instead of lithographic art.
