Name that player!

A rookie sensation in 1962, Ken handled 418 chances at second base without committing an error. He can make a tough play look easy.

Since Hank has been in the Big Leagues, he's averaged 1 homer in every 16.8 times he's come to bat. He ranked 6th in the National League in Home Runs in 1951 and smacked 35 in 1948, 31 in 1949 and 32 in 1950. After 3 trials with the Reds he made the grade in 1948 and was traded to the Cubs the next year. In 1947, playing for Syracuse, he was named the Minor League Player of the Year, hitting 50 homers and batting .336.

Stan Hack, a former star player with the Cubs, is now in his first year of managing in the majors. After six years of experience managing in the Cub farm system, Stan was named to lead the Cubs in 1954. As a player with the Cubs, Hack was one of the National League's finest third basemen and top leadoff men. He is familiar with many Chicago rookies, having managed them in the minors.

Back to the Front! Cubs card back du jour...

Billy Williams
Cubs skipper Leo Durocher thought Williams needed a rest. For most players, that's no big deal, but this day off on September 3, 1970 made national headlines. Billy, sitting out a 7-2 victory over the Phillies at Wrigley Field, saw his consecutive-games streak end at 1,117. That then-National League record since has been surpassed by only Steve Garvey.
