"Carl Hubbell finished 1933 season as most valuable player of the National League and as leading pitcher of the League on the basis of earned runs, leading the League in innings pitched and games won. He allowed an average of 1.65 runs per game and established the National League record of 46 consecutive scoreless innings. He joined the Giants in 1928 and in 1929 pitched a no-hit, no- run game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, the only one of the League. He was born in Carthage, Mo., June 22, 1903, stands an even 6 feet high and weighs 170 pounds. He pitches left-handed but bats either left-handed or right-handed."

As Ohio has given us the most presidents, the San Francisco Bay district has probably produced' the most top league base ball players. Bill Rigney is one of them. His impressive 5 years in the minors made his Giant bid a foregone conclusion, but then Uncle Sam stepped in for three years. His batting average increased last year over his first year's record. He's one of the Giants' most dependable players.
