In 1976 Topps set of 660 standard-size cards is known for its sharp color photographs and interesting presentation of subjects. Cards were sold in ten-card wax packs 42-card rack packs as well as cello packs and other options. Team cards feature a checklist back for players on that team and show a small inset photo of the manager on the front. A 'Father and Son' series (66-70) spotlights five major leaguers whose fathers also made the 'Big Show'.

Card fronts feature wood grain borders encasing a color photo (reminiscent of Topps classic 1962 baseball set). Subsets include Record Breakers (1-7), Turn Back The Clock (311-315), All-Star selections (595-616), and Team Leaders (scattered throughout the set). The manager cards contain a team checklist on back.
