A strong skater and a tireless worker, Bobby won the Hart Trophy as the NHL's Most Valuable Player last season, the first West Division player to be so honored. He was second in NHL scoring last season, and already holds most Philadelphia scoring marks. Bobby is also a power play specialist and a top-notch checker.
Bob was obtained from Springfield in June, 1963, for four players. He had been with the Indians for eight years and was with Three Rivers for a year and a half before Boston gave him a shot at the NHL. Bob was originally in the Montreal organization. He's 30 years old, 6'1" and weighs 180 lbs.
No less a hockey luminary than Wayne Gretzky saw that the best way to light a fire under Daniel was to give him a "Ghost of Christmas Future" look at what might yet be. So midway through the 2000-01 season, Phoenix actually put Briere on waivers. When there were no takers, the slick center re-dedicated himself. In '01-02, his team-high 32 goals put him in a pack with Paul Kariya, Ziggy Palffy and Alexei Yashin.
