Minnesota's 11th choice, 196th overall, in 1989 entry draft. Irbe snapped a 13-game losing streak for the Sharks with wins in his first two starts (Nov. 8-9, 1991). That same season with Kansas City he won the James Norris Memorial Trophy as the IHL's top goaltender. Irbe was named the Soviet National League Rookie-of-the-Year in 1988.
A strong skater and a tireless worker, Bobby won the Hart Trophy as the NHL's Most Valuable Player last season, the first West Division player to be so honored. He was second in NHL scoring last season, and already holds most Philadelphia scoring marks. Bobby is also a power play specialist and a top-notch checker.
Born Lethbridge, Alta., Oct. 25, 1934. 5'11", 182. Shoots left. Earl starred in two top minor leagues before blossoming as a regular center with Rangers. Has 45 goals in last two NHL years. Plays baseball in summer.
