Charlie is known in the trade as a digger due to his alertness and aggressiveness in corners. Scored 15 goals last season after starting out in Kingston and being recalled. Always plays with a helmet, result of serious skull fracture. He's not noted as scorer, but proved worth in full turn.
One of the few men in the NHL to hold the dual job of general manager-coach, Lou ended his playing career last season to take over behind the bench for St. Louis. This year will be his first full season as a coach anywhere. A graduate of Michigan Tech, Lou was an All-American selection during his college days. As a player, he was an aggressive, pesky center, a man who thrived on hard work and good checking ability. He'll try to instill the same spirit into the Blues.
Rated highly as a strong-checking left winger, he developed in Ranger organization, then was traded to Hawks for Hank Ciesla. Scoring fell off last year because of injuries, his worst season in four under the Black Hawk banner.
