During the Knicks' championship season of 1969-70, Walt waited until the final game of the playoffs against the Lakers to reach a peak perfor mance. He led all scorers in that final game with 36 points and equalled the NBA record for playmaking in a single playoff game by duplicating a Bob Cousy mark with 19 assists. He's been in 2 NBA All-Star games.
The best all-around player in the history of Eastern Michigan, George set school single-season records with 339 field goals, 208 free throws and 458 rebounds in 1971-72. His biggest basket came on a driving layup at the buzzer to defeat Duquesne at Pittsburgh, 70-69. George scored 40 points or more 5 times in his collegiate career, his game highs were 21 FG's and 17 FT's.
First draft choice for the Rockets after a coin flip, the Big E walked off with the NBA scoring championship in his first pro season. He canned 2,327 for 28.4 avg. and was 4th in rebounding with 1,406 (17.1).
