In Kenyon, the NBA is watching a young player develop into a big star right before its eyes. His Nets' astonishing improvement due in no small part to his own, Martin's numbers were way up over his rookie season. Now a solid 15- to 18-point scorer and prolific shot blocker, he also has added a three-pointer to his repertoire and has become known as one of the most physical defenders in the league. Kenyon is happy to do that kind of "dirty work," and doesn't consider himself a gaudily athletic player. "I have game hops," he says. "I jump when I have to."
After missing Memphis' first 14 games of 2022-23, Jackson quickly made up for lost time. In his season debut on Nov. 15, the All-Defensive Team forward swatted five shots vs. New Orleans. Keeping near that pace, he finished the campaign with a career-best 189 rejections.
Having seen only brief action with the Detroit Pistons in 1967-68, George joined the Washington Capitols after a military hitch. Playing behind Rick Barry, he had a chance at a starting role when Rick suffered his second knee injury. George responded impressively and quickly, with a 24-point performance against the New Orleans Buccaneers in his first start.
