The Dallas Chaparrals, a charter member of the ABA, originated in 1967. In conjunction with a move to San Antonio in 1973, the team name was changed to the Spurs. The Spurs joined the NBA after the 1975-76 season and won five division titles in the next seven seasons. Now led by David Robinson, the Spurs have won two more division titles (1989-90 and 1990-91).
