"The Silent One," as Sam is called, came into his own with a bang last season and is now rated with the top, backcourt performers offensively. He possesses perhaps greater speed from a standing start than anyone else in the game. He specializes in banking in goals off the backboard with a certain "spot" he has sighted since his high school days. Along with teammate K. C. Jones, the Jones Boys give the Celtics two grand weapons with which to harry an opposing club by the all-court press.
Named to the ABA All-Rookie Second Team for 1974-75, Maurice was considered as one of the league's most improved players. A very aggressive player, he is basically a forward but played center post at St. Louis. Maurice was a High School All-American and led his team to the state title with a 27.5 point and 24.3 rebound average.
Harvey started the most games at center for the 76ers in 1975-76 and led the club in blocked shots with a record 164 to rank 4th in the league in that category. His hot shot blocking streaks have caused 76ers fans to clamor "Harvey, Harvey". He was club's 3rd-best rebounder, 1975-76.
