The key man of Kansas State's great team of 1959-60, the young Nebraskan proved to be an outstanding operative in his freshman year for the Royals. Boozer proved to be a ferocious rebounder and a deadly medium range push shot artist. Better than average defensively, the young giant demonstrated a rugged quality on the boards.
Willis, the longtime Hawk, came to Miami in a Nov. 7. 1994 trade that dealt Steve Smith, Grant Long and a future second round NBA Draft pick to Atlanta. Willis gives the Heat veteran savvy, low post presence and a big body to pound for loose balls. In 1994-95, he paid dividends immediately, leading the squad in offensive (227) and defensive rebounds (505).
Orlando isn't sure what it got here. In Taylor, they know they drafted the Southern Conference Player of the Year and an extraordinary athlete. But, the team believes, his NBA ceiling could be much higher. Johnny, after all, may not yet have reached physical maturity. Between his frosh and junior years in HS, he grew from 5-9 to 6-6, and has added a couple of inches and 40 pounds since.
