In trying to help keep the National Basketball Association's record a perfect six-for-six in the McDonald's Open Tournaments, the Phoenix Suns' guard Danny Ainge played the exhibition games in his midseason NBA form. In the first game against Real Madrid, Ainge was 2-for-3 from beyond the three-point arc, and finished the game scoring in double figures (12 points).
Signed to two 10-day contracts by the Mavericks during the 1991-92 campaign, Howard's strong play in the stretch drive earned himself a roster spot for 1992-93. Over the season's last eight games, Howard averaged 9.4 PPG on .646 shooting in 19.4 minutes per contest. A former All-Rookie CBA choice and a player in the league's 1991 All-Star Game, Howard averaged 20.8 PPG for the Omaha Racers in 1990-91.
