As a 1996-97 rookie, Antoine did his part for Celtic pride by accomplishing something the likes of Bird, McHale nor Parish ever did: lead the team in points, rebounds and blocked shots. The achievement was a mark of versatility, as Walker - a natural forward - played center some nights and filled in at point guard on others. By the season's second half - during which he averaged 21.1 points per game and closed out the year with two triple-doubles in three games - the former U. of Kentucky star was clearly Boston's best player and a comerstone for the franchise's future.
Paul saw 482 Minutes of playing action with Celtics as a rookie last season. At USC, Paul was chosen to the First Team All-Pacific 8 as a sophomore and junior. He was a Second Team selection as a senior despite playing only four league games due to an injury. As a junior, Paul led USC to a 24-2 record, best in school history, including an 87-86 victory at UCLA.
