Tom's sophomore season in the NBA in 1975-76 saw him gain maturity and poise as he continues to be one of the best up and coming centers in the league. As a rookie, he was named to the 1974-75 All-Rookie Team after a streak of 22 points per game during the final 7 games of the regular season. In the Playoffs, Tom emerged as the Super Sonics' leading scorer, rebounder & shot blocker.
Observers say that Randy has all the potential to develop into one of the finest centers in all of pro basketball. Randy came to Memphis for the final half of his rookie season and averaged 15.8 points and 11.4 rebounds per game. At Duke he averaged 19.8 points and 12.7 rebounds throughout his varsity collegiate career.
A second-round choice of the 2004 WNBA Draft, Kaayla Chones was the 13th all-time leading scorer in N.C. State history with 1,538 points. Chones' father Jim was the No. 1 overall pick in the 1972 ABA Draft and went on to play in the NBA.
