Bevilaqua, 19th in the WNBA in assists per game in 2000, handed out a season-best eight assists in an 80-69 win over Cleveland on June 28. She also sank 9-of-10 free throws.

The team enjoyed its only 60-win season its first year as the Washington Bullets and brought home its only NBA title after a seven-game series with Seattle in 1978. DID YOU KNOW? Bullets coach Wes Unseld is also the only player in franchise history to win the regular-season NBA Most Valuable Player Award (1968-69). The 1985-86 Bullets, buoyed by the debut of the tallest player in NBA history (7-foot-7-inch Manute Bol), set the NBA single-season blocks record (716). SCORECARD. On November 13, 1987, Washington went to the line 69 times against the Knicks and set an NBA record for most free throws (60) in a regulation NBA game.



N.B.A. fans get a chance to see "Hot Rod" in action this season. In college, he was such a phenomenal scorer he would often stop shooting to keep games from being complete routes! In a game against Furman, Rod hit for 54 points and in 3 years scored a total of 2180. He owns a basketfull of records including the mark of 23 straight free throws. In his senior year Rod scored 671 points in 29 games for a flashy 23.1 average and wound up his college career with a big 24.5.
