No. Since he made no effort to get out of the way of the pitch, he remains at bat. The pitch would be called a ball.

Erv's superior hurling in the last weeks of the 1950 campaign was partly responsible for the last-ditch fight of the Dodgers which took them to the final day of the season before being eliminated from pennant contention. Erv joined Brooklyn at the end of the 1947 season. Hit stride in 1950. Had a 13-8 record in 43 games. Pitched 201 innings. Gave up 176 hits. Disposed of 131 batters by strikeout route.



A thrilling chapter in the comeback story of "Prince Hal" was written in '54 when he starred as an Indian relief pitcher. Calling on his 16 years of experience, Hal silenced enemy bats in many tough situations last year. Originally with Detroit, he pitched 15 years for the Tigers, leading the A.L. hurlers in Victories 3 times and was chosen to play in 5 All Star games.



In 1964, Sandy was the International League's batting champ. As a rookie with The Twins, the outfielder swiped seven bases.
