Boy, can't he hit the ball! He's a big fellow, six feet, four inches tall and weighs 180 pounds. Hits and throws left-handed. Hit 16 home runs last year and batted for .326. Played five years in minor leagues before he got a real chance to break into the big league. Brooklyn bought him in 1926. Broke in with a wallop. Hit .319 and he's been slugging the ball ever since. Second best batter in the National League in 1930 and made 35 home runs. Born in Buffalo, N. Y., June 26, 1903.



Appeared in 32 games in 1950. Won 7, lost 8. Spent 6 seasons in minors before coming to Cardinals for the 1943 campaign. In 1944, won 11, while losing 3. Led National League pitchers with an amazingly low earned run average of 1.34. Spent 1945 and part of 1946 in service. Record in 1947, 16-5; in 1948, 10-11; in 1949, 15-8. Red's .652 percentage in 1949 was the fifth best in the league.



Invited to Chicago's spring training camp in 2023, Crow-Armstrong arrived with a unique distinction. The big leagues' official website tabbed the fleet-footed prospect as the best defender in the minor leagues. Touted for his range and instincts, he was awarded a perfect grade on the 20-80 scale.
