Coffee Talk Name that player!
If background and pitching talent mean anything, "Jim" Bagby will eventually be one of the great right-handed pitching stars of the American League. "Sarge" Bagby, his dad. won 30 games for the Cleveland Indians back in 1920, and while his offspring may not equal that, he should, on his showings, become a steady winner. In 1938, young Bagby won 15 and lost 11 for the Boston Red Sox. He ran into trouble the next year and after winning five and losing as many, he was farmed out to Little Rock, where he captured 7 and lost 6. "Jim" has shown his 1938 form this Spring and should pick up right where he left off then. Joe Cronin, his manager, has a lot of faith in the Clevelander's future in the majors.
In 1966, Doug was the All-Star third baseman in the Texas League. He was sent up to Oklahoma City where he continued his fine play and earned a promotion to the majors. Doug completed the 1967 campaign with a bang, hitting .333 in 47 games with Houston. In addition to his duties at the hot corner, Doug can also play first base.
