Name that player!

Alex is a good pitcher, who is strong and eager for work. With the Philadelphia Athletics, in 1954, he appeared in 27 games, winning 6 and losing 17. That is a record that could easily have been reversed with a better hitting team behind him. Alex began in 1941 with his native Tucson team. He first joined the Athletics in 1948, after starting the season with Savannah. In 1950 he won 20 games, leading the league in wins.

George Lauzerique: This 21 year old rookie compiled identical 13-4 records in 1966 and 1967... not a bad rut to get into! George, a righthander, fanned 106 batters in 26 ballgames last year. Roberto Rodriguez: Roberto won 31 games for Vancouver for the past three years and now he has earned himself a big league shot. A native of Venezuela, Roberto stands 6'3", weighs 186 and is a righthander.

"Ossie" Vitt took over the managerial post at Cleveland in October, 1937, and has been at the helm ever since. He previously managed Hollywood, Oakland, and Newark. As a ball player, Vitt was one of the outstanding third basemen in the American League when he played with the Detroit Tigers. He was with the Tigers in the Ty Cobb era from 1912 through 1918, and with the Boston Red Sox the next three years. He set an American League record when he accepted 593 chances in 1916, and that same year set another league record, for the period, by making 385 assists.
