Name that player!

Steve is built to hit home runs. He has led the PCL in circuits for the last three seasons. In 1956, he led the league in hitting, with a .360 average. Steve also poled top totals of 55 homers, 215 hits and 164 runs batted in.

His 2022 runs-allowed slate was clean until his 13th appearance; Drew advanced into progressively higher-leverage roles. In one of those outings, he contributed four outs to the second no-hitter in Mets history. A pitch-switch was the key. Smith abandoned his cutter for a slider that featured a spin rate 200-plus-rpms higher than the offering it replaced.

"Wee Willie" Keeler, the player who originated the remark, "I hit 'em where they ain't", goes back a long time in baseball history, but his name will never be forgotten. He was the greatest place-hitter baseball ever saw, and despite his lack of size and weight, stamped himself a great over 19 years of major league ball with Baltimore, Brooklyn, New York Giants and the Yankees. He had a lifetime batting average of .345, got 2955 hits, stole 519 bases, and was a great fielder to boot. His greatest season was with Baltimore in 1897, when he hit .432.
