Bob became the Yankees' No. 1 relief pitcher after the Senators traded him in 1951. He started in pro ball in 1941 and had trials with the Indians in '46 and 47. Bob won 21 for Charleston in 1942, spent 1943-44-45 in Service and in 46 at Wilkes-Barre won 14 and struck out 207. With Baltimore most of the 1947 and 1948 seasons, he came up with the White Sox in 1949 and had a 10-6 record. Bob went to the Senators in 1950.
Didn't allow a single run in his first three starts, winning them all. He pulled the feat in five of his first 10 games. Had 10 Ks in his fourth start and had career-best 12, 7-2-23.
In the minors, Mike played for his circuit's All-Star teams in 1961, 1962 and 1963. The catcher was acquired by the Washington Senators from the Los Angeles Dodgers' organization in '63.
