Hit his stride as a player when traded by Chicago Cubs to Brooklyn during 1944 season. After three and a half seasons he was traded to pennant winning 1948 Boston Braves. A tip-top lead-off man, Eddie established NL record for bases on balls with 148 in 1945, led again in 1946 with 137. In 1947 he established a NL fielding record for second baseman with an average of .985.

A pinch-hitting pitcher is a rare sight in any league, but Lynn Nelson, the slugging pitcher of the Athletics, is such a man. Lynn joined the Athletics in 1937, winning 4 games and losing 9 for them that year. In 1938 he accounted for 10 victories and 11 defeats, hurling 13 complete games. Nelson has been used in the outfield on days when not pitching and is very often called upon as a pinch-hitter. In 1938 Lynn took part in 66 games, driving in 15 runs for a batting average of .279.

Don rejoined the St. Louis Browns last year after spending 1951-52 with Chicago, Boston and Detroit. He came up with the Browns in '50 to hit .273, smack 22 Homers and drive in 81 runs. 1946 was Don's first year in pro ball and he hit .368 for Pittsburg (K-O-M League). In '47 he led the 3-1 Loop in HR's with 22 and clouted 26 at San Antonio in 1949.
