This may be Ted's year. He has all the stuff needed to make him a Senator regular. In '55 with Washington, he showed flashes of brilliance and hurled two shutouts. Sent back to the Minors for more seasoning, Ted was top man A.A. in strikeouts.



Spent 8 active seasons with 8 ball clubs - in major and minor leagues before becoming regular major leaguer in 1946. Had trial with Pittsburgh Pirates at start of 1942 season, finished with Toronto. On St. Louis Cards roster in 1945, but spent the time in service. Then 1946 and regular duty with the Phils. With Reds in 1948 he played in 136 games and batted .273.



Tyrus Raymond Cobb, center fielder of the Detroit American League team, was born December 18, 1886, at Royston, Ga. Cobb's professional career began in 1904, when he played for a short time with the Augusta Club of the South Atlantic League. He was purchased by Detroit in 1905. Since then he has been a regular member of the team, and is noted as a marvel for speed and batting.
