Bob topped the A.L. in strikeouts in '54 and placed second last year. A huge 17 man deal brought Bob to N.Y. from Baltimore in '55. His fine pitching helped N.Y. regain the A.L. pennant in '55.
One of the leading pitchers on the Pittsburgh Pirates. He is a right-hander, 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs 180 pounds. Born in 1899. Began his professional career with Beaumont in the Texas League in 1921. St. Louis secured him in 1922, but sent him back to the minors. He came up to the National League with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1929, after starring with the Kansas City Club in the American Association. He has been with the Buccs ever since. Last year, he worked in 28 games, won 12 and was beaten 9 times.
In 5th game of 1972 AL Playoffs with Detroit ahead, 1-0, Reggie led off 2nd with a Walk. He stole 2nd, went to 3rd on fly and stole home to tie score, 1-1. A's won game, 2-1, but Reggie was injured on play and had to miss the World Series.
