Per usual, Giambi put up huge home run, RBI and walk totals in 2003. From 1999 through '02, this consummate pro topped .310, 30 homers and 100 runs, ribbies and walks each year. After winning the AL MVP Award in '00 (with Oakland), he finished second in the voting in '01 and fifth in '02.

He received shrapnel wounds in his right foot and was awarded the Purple Heart. A graduate of San Bernadino Valley College. Dee has been clocked at 9.9 for 100 yards. He signed in 1946 at a Long Beach, Cal. try-out camp. Sent to Santa Barbara he hit .335.
