Ted is one of the greatest hitters of all time! In '41, he hit .406, the only time any Big Leaguer hit over .400 since 1930. He led the A.L. in Homers in 1941-42-47-49. Named the Most Valuable Player in '46 and '49, Ted starred in 9 All-Star games, hitting .407. He has the highest Lifetime B.A. of any active player.
"Brooklyn paid $50,000. in cash and players for Lombardi after the close of the 1930 season, but he spent only one year with the Dodgers, being traded to Cincinnati the following year. Lombardi swings one of the heaviest bats in baseball. He is fi feet, 2 inches tall and weighs around 195 pounds, batting and throwing right- handed. He is a catcher. Last year with Cincinnati, he batted .283 in 107 games. Lombardi broke into professional baseball with the Oakland Club of the Pacific Coast League in 1927."
Coming from Detroit Tigers in 1946 he finished season with A's batting .318. Last year he hit .326. Began his career in 1936 in Texas League. From there he went to Charleston, then two years more with Beaumont team and he went to Detroit in 1939. 1940 was a great year for him, batting .340, leading the AL in triples and tied for the most hits.
