MY BIGGEST THRILL IN BASEBALL by Brooks Lawrence. I got my big thrill during our last 1954 series with the Giants. Haddix started the game for us, and was leading 4-2 when he developed arm trouble and was relieved by Brazle. He gave up a single and I was brought in to pitch to Al Dark. I threw him three straight strikes. Hank Thompson pinch hit and was retired on one pitch. My thrill is derived from the fact that I came into the game in a critical situation and retired the side on four pitches.

One of the fastest plays for a second baseman comes on the "dragged bunt" in which a speedy batsmen tries to push the ball slowly to the right of the pitcher's box and beat out the roller before the second baseman can come in to make the stop and throw. Second basemen, like Tony Cuccinello, keep close watch on batters, since only by anticipating a dragged bunt, can he get a jump on the play. When the batter starts to fall away from the plate to bunt while running, Tony leaps to meet the slow bounding ball, whipping it with an underhand wrist flick without wasting time to straighten up.
