1967 seemed like a year that Mickey would want to forget when he lost 10 games in a row. The southpaw went on to win 9 out of 10 late in the year, including three straight shutouts.
In a post-season deal in 1966, Walt was obtained by the White Sox from the St. Louis Cardinal system. The 26-year-old outfielder, one of the shortest men in the majors, is a speed-demon. Walt swiped 36 bases with Tulsa in 1965.
Don wasn't carried on the St. Louis Brownie roster in the spring of 1953, but by the end of the season he had pitched in 38 games for the Brownies, winning 7 and losing 12, a record that could have been reversed with a better hitting team behind him. He started 22 games, pitched 193 innings, and gave up 201 hits. He faced 752 batters. Don walked 64 men and struck out 96, and his earned run average was 4.15. He's considered a bright prospect.
