Pittsburgh grabbed Bartell from the semi-pro ranks in 1927 and sent him to Bridgeport in the Eastern League for a year. He came back to the Pirates in 1928 and hit for .305 in 72 games. Three years with the Pirates and now playing his third season with Phillies. A mighty good shortstop and also a dangerous batter. Last year he hit .308 in 154 games and fielded .963. He is 24 and hails from Alameda, Cal. He is a right-hander, five feet, nine inches tall and weighs 148 pounds.

A prime factor in the Tigers' 1968 pennant winning season, Willie finished 2nd in the league in home runs and 4th in batting. Detroit first spotted Willie when he was just 14 years old!

Shane was a different pitcher (less velo, more sliders) in 2022 than in his AL Cy Young Award effort of two years earlier, but was still highly effective. He allowed three or fewer runs in 13 of his first 14 starts and ranked among the AL S0% leaders.
