Chet is the son of a former National League pitcher. In '51, his rookie year, he had the best Earned Run Average in the National League. At Pawtucket High he struck out 23 men in 1 game. In '49, his first year in pro ball, he won 17 and lost 7. At Milwaukee the next year, his record was 7-14 and was brought up to the Braves for the '51 season. Chet went into the service before the start of the 1952 season.
Javier, just 23, has spent parts of the past three seasons in the Majors, adding left field to his diverse defensive profile in 2016. He's a ferocious swinger who can make parks look small when he connects.
Bobby had an excellent season for the Reds in 1952. He appeared in 154 games, one of six National Leaguers who appeared in all their team's games. Bobby had the most at bats in the league, 637; the most singles, 145. Bobby has been in baseball since 1939. He spent 1943, '44 and 1945 in service. When he returned in 1946 he was a Red, and he's been with them ever since.
