Orestes Minoso nicknamed "Minny" is a contraction of Minoso's last name. His christened first name is Saturnino. He is a Cuban and one of a number of boys from the far south who have entered big league baseball with notable success. Led A.L. in stolen bases in 1951 (31), 1952 (22), and 1953 (25); also led A.L. in 1951 in triples (14). Played on A.L. All-Star teams 1951-52-53.
