One of the National League's top sluggers, Sid has hit 7 grand-slam Homers - 4 of them in 1950, to tie a League Record. He smacked 30 Home Runs in 1948, 26 in '49, and 27 in '50. In '49, he tied another Record by hitting 2 HR's in one inning. A World War II Veteran, Sid came to the Braves from the Giants in 1950 and hit .304, batting in 103 Runs. He led the League at 3rd Base in Fielding in '48 and in the Outfield in '46. Sid started in the minors in 1938 and made the majors in '42.



A sensational debut introduced Karl to the N.L. last season with a warning for enemy batters to beware. Coming to Brooklyn late in '54 after a tremendous 21-9 record at Fort Worth, he blanked N.Y. with 3 hits and fanned 15, breaking the League record for 1st Game Strikeouts. Four days later, he returned to shut out the Pirates, getting 12 men on strikes with his blazing speed.
