Was American League home run champion in 1952. Also led in slugging percentage and runs scored that year and was second in RBI's. Top batting average was .326 in 1950. One of very few who never played in minors, he's been with Indians since 1947. Chosen for All-Star Game last five seasons.



The big hard-throwing righthander won 13 ball games for Grand Forks in the Northern League in 1956. Continuing on his way to the majors, Dave notched 15 triumphs at Beaumont in '57. Dave's biggest season in the minors was at Lincoln in the Western League where he racked up 16 wins agains tthe opposition.



Gave up 160 bases on balls in 1950 - the most in the League. Yet had the excellent win-lose record of 15-9. Began in organized baseball in 1940 with Yankees' Newark farm team. Joined parent club for 1943 after compiling a record of 17-4 to lead the International League in winning percentage (.810). In service next 3 years. With Yanks, 1946, and since end of 1947.
